Andy Stump was born on October 23, 1967.  He is the son of Clair D. and W. Leona Stump.  He was born in York Hospital and attended Dallastown Area Schools from kindergarten through 12th grade, graduating in 1985.

He graduated from Mansfield University in 1989 with a Bachelor of Music degree in Music Education.  For two years he taught music in a public school setting in a Schuylkill County school district.

In 1991, Andy met Willis Miller and the people of Water For Life at a Lutheran Youth Convention.  He visited the work they were doing in Haiti and in 1992 committed to one year with Water For Life in Haiti.  He arrived in Haiti on July 17th, 1992.

After one year of service in the primary school sponsored by Water For Life, Andy was called to continue serving in Haiti and has been doing so fulltime since then.

Andy was baptized at Christ Lutheran Church in Dallastown as an infant.  He grew up in that church, was confirmed there, and remains an active member of that church.  In 2009, Andy chose to be baptized as an adult in a ceremony at the church where he serves in Passe-bois-d’orme, Haiti.

In July of 2012, Andy along with four members of Christ Lutheran Church in Dallastown launched ASAPH Teaching Ministry.  On that day Andy began his 21st year of ministry in Haiti.

"...we will tell the next generation the praiseworthy deeds of the Lord,

Haiti is poor.  Haiti’s poverty reaches deeper than empty pockets.
Rural Haitians live in academic poverty, often with less than three years of schooling in their lifetime.
Math skills are poor.  Reading and writing skills are poor.
Historical, geographical, and scientific awareness are minimal.
Lack of education affects policemen, doctors, teachers, and every single family.

For many Haitian students, academic experiences are negative, full of falsehoods, archaic teaching methods, physical and emotional abuse.

ASAPH TEACHING MINISTRY IS EXEMPT FROM FEDERAL INCOME TAX UNDER SECTION 501(C)3 OF THE INTERNAL REVENUE CODE AS A PUBLIC CHARITY.
The board of ASAPH Teaching Ministry worked hard in 2012 organizing itself and filling out applications in order to make ASAPH a real ministry.  There are so many little things to consider and to accomplish.  We were able to finish the application and send it off to the IRS with high hopes.
