Mission Statement: To give of ourselves so others may know Jesus Christ.

Rescue Mission

You can help the York Rescue Mission offer food, clothing, shelter and spiritual guidance for the poor and needy of York County. Last year 161,137 meals were served and shelter was provided for 7,048 men, women and children.

You could be part of the Men's Ministries, Women's Ministries, and the Lighthouse Youth Center Ministries located on West Market Street, Jefferson Avenue, and West Philadelphia Street in York.

And by donating things you no longer need to the Economy Stores in York, Dover and Dallastown. The items are sold at a very reasonable price and the profits go toward the ministries.

Bethlehem has been part of the Rescue Mission through groups and individuals in ways such as serving meals, sponsoring a food drive, distributing school supplies, making gifts for the women's ministry, working in the Economy Store and providing an assortment of supplies.

Consider the following list of activities in which volunteers are constantly needed:
  • Mentor men and women in our recovery programs.
  • Supply and/or prepare a meal at our Women & Children's Emergency Shelter.
  • Make at home and supply pancakes or french toast for our Women & Children's Emergency Shelter.
  • Roast and debone turkeys for a meal at the Main Mission.
  • Sing/Play and instrument in the Chapel/Dinning Room over lunch time or evening services.
  • Prayer Support for our clients, programs and staff.

  • Sponsor a Friday "game nite" or "craft nite" at the Women's & Children's Shelter.
  • Join the Ladies Auxiliary.
  • Seasonal Volunteer Opportunities -Christmas, Thanksgiving, Easter.
  • Organize a "paper drive"- collecting paper towels, tissues, toilet paper, paper plates and cups.
  • Organize a "hygiene drive"- collecting combs, toothbrushes, toothpaste, deodorant, soaps, etc.
