Breezy Acres MinistryBreezy Acres Ministry
It is an interdenominational organization which brings enthusiastic local youth and adult leaders together
in Montgomery County in a mission outreach to the poor and disadvantaged people.
It is a ministry to the participants; they come not to evangelize, but to grow in their faith through meaningful services to others.
Breezy Acres vision is to partner with churches and other agencies in Germantown, MD, becoming a vital link in helping the poor and disadvantaged through our spiritual and structured work camps.
Since the mission work is always local, there is an opportunity
to establish long-term partnerships and ensure follow up with our neighbors in need.
The goal is to partner with various churches in the planning and execution of a well organized, meaningful and effective project in our county that benefits all participants.
Bethlehem United Methodist Church participated in three service projects,
all located in Montgomery County, Maryland, from July 22-28, 2012.
The projects were supported by a total of 44 volunteers from four churches, two from Pennsylvania and two from Maryland. The Pennsylvania churches included Bethlehem United Methodist from Dallastown and Crossroads Church from State Line.
The Maryland churches included Neelsville Presbyterian and Christ Community, both from Germantown.
The first project was named the ‘Ramp Project’ and provided handicapped access for a disabled resident living in a townhouse. The construction work included tree removal, stump grinding, excavation, concrete work and the construction of a wood ramp. Another project was the ‘Trail Project’ and was focused on a 3,000 foot long hiking and meditation trail in an old growth forest at a Jewish Retreat Center that had not been maintained for many years. The ‘Trail Team’ reestablished, cleared and blazed the trail using standards adapted from the Appalachian Trail Conservatory.
